Who We Are
First Presbyterian Church is a fellowship of Christians who come from a
variety of backgrounds, but who unite in acknowledging the lordship of Jesus
Christ. We are in the Reformed tradition of Christendom, but joyfully
acknowledge the unity of all believers in the Body of Christ, the Church.
We confess that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and
gratefully acknowledge that we are saved from the guilt and penalty of sin
by grace, God’s unmerited favor, through faith in Jesus Christ. As Christians,
we are called to a new life in obedience to Jesus.
We accept the Divine inspiration, authority, and relevance of the Bible in
our life today. Through preaching, group Bible study, and encouragement of
private reading of the Bible, we attempt to understand God’s will for us. We
acknowledge the Holy Spirit as the One who guides us to understand and
obey God’s word.
We encourage each person in fellowship with us to use his/her gifts and
means in such a way that the church becomes increasingly strong.
We believe it is the privilege of every Christian to be an “Ambassador of
Christ”, carrying the Good News of the Gospel to others by word and deed.
We believe there is a place for you here, and we welcome you to come find
your place.
